About Thanksgiving. And our first Thanksgiving tradition.

Last weekend was Thanksgiving and my sister flew into town. It consisted of shopping, lounging, eating, gaming, and lots of hugs for Jerry since he was driving us around everywhere. He really does make the best host. Love him. Anyways to make things short, it was an awesome weekend. But I want to talk about these pumpkin pies you see in the first photo. See, I made that ugly looking one on the left. When I decided to make my first pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving this year, I imagined it to look perfect with a pretty rim on the edges. You know, like the ones you see in the movies. But of course, it was the complete opposite.

On my pie, the crust was falling apart, the pie itself was cracking everywhere, and I was stressing out so much about it that I turned into a total grump. (ya, good one marsa) I was so embarrassed by it that I almost didn't even want to serve it to anyone. Mostly because I was scared that it would taste worse than how it looked. I just wanted it to be perfect. Is that too much to ask? But you know what? I was totally wrong. My pie was amaaaazing! We all ended up liking it way better than the store-bought one so I was pretty excited. The peoples were getting second slices from it guys. That's always a good sign. So that's the first Thanksgiving tradition we made. Marsa makes the pumpkin pies. Because apparently, I'm pretty good at ugly ones that are secretly very tastey. Oh and also, Jerry makes the turkey. Because he's good at that stuff too. So I guess that's two traditions for us. We're on a roll.

p.s. sharing about why i love my feral watch here. check it out if you wanna.

  5. You can hide the blemish by covering the pie with whip cream before serving. No one will know the difference.
